Route 66: The joy of an iconic journey across America’s heartland

Sometime within the next year, I want to traverse historic Route 66. I may head out this fall or wait until spring. Whether I kick off in Chicago and head southeast or start right here in the beautiful Ozarks, the road ahead promises countless discoveries and picture-perfect moments.

My quest for this iconic highway across America’s heartland isn’t just about the destination; it’s about experiencing the journey itself. I’m embracing a slower, more deliberate pace of travel. It’s a departure from my usual hurry to reach the next spot. The current economic climate, with its rising inflation, has nudged me towards this change. Even though my beloved 24′ Winnebago View, lovingly nicknamed BESSie (Business Educational Support Studio), is relatively modest among motorcoaches, she has an appetite for premium fuel, guzzling at a rate of 12 MPG! So, I’ve chosen to savor the experience. Fewer miles each day means a more enjoyable trip and more opportunity to see unique places.

This new approach involves covering a couple of hundred miles at a time and settling in for a day or two. Fuel costs will be spread out and I will have adequate opportunity to stay connected with my clients. I can easily manage social media updates, website maintenance, and offer marketing assistance, while taking in the stunning landscapes and cultural gems along Route 66.

As I contemplate this exciting journey, I’ve also decided to embrace a creative endeavor. I’m launching my very own Etsy store. It appears there’s a strong demand for Route 66 enthusiast t-shirts, and I’ve curated a small, ever-expanding collection that captures the spirit of this iconic route. I encourage you to explore my offerings and share your feedback. Custom orders are welcome, and if you’ve ever considered starting your own Etsy shop, I’d be delighted to guide you through the process.

So, whether you’re a seasoned traveler or someone looking to embark on your first adventure, Route 66 offers a timeless experience filled with history, scenic beauty, and the opportunity to embrace a more relaxed way of life. I will relay experiences through this blog and on social media along the way. Check out Harvest Hosts and please my affiliate link: https://gr3f.co/c/53807/0RFwO. Join me online during this thrilling journey as we explore the heart of America’s Main Street. Don’t forget to check out my Etsy shop AroundtheMidwest.etsy.com for unique Route 66 memorabilia and custom orders. Feel free to reach out if you need any assistance with your own creative endeavors. The road ahead is full of possibilities, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
